First Blog Ever

This is certainly new and different! As horticulture specialist at the University of Wyoming I’m involved in most green, CO2 using things. Mostly I like working with commercial producers of horticultural crops, everything from small fruits to ornamentals, but my favorites are greenhouses, high tunnels – basically protected structures and anything grown in them.

And since my husband Mark is a horticulturist too, our house and yard are big science projects.

Today I went over to the new Berry Biodiversity Conservation Building on campus where the green roof is. Some of the native plants there I started from seeds this past spring. Most of them are doing well, though there have been some expected casualties. More on that later.

I also harvested the first tomatoes and ancho poblano pepper from the high tunnels this morning.

I am on twitter (@wyohort) and also Facebook (Karen Panter).
